When Sara called me about joining the D30AMB team, I was so excited that I scribbled a long list of post ideas- why I love Defuniak, Sensory Processing Disorder, the Instant Pot, 15 ways to fold underwear. What I didn’t consider was writing the ever important introduction. My early attempts at writing about myself were not my best work. The one time I tried online personals, the only hits I got were from people telling me that nobody in Los Angeles says “SoCal” and nobody worth knowing in Los Angeles goes bowling. So, writing about myself is a challenge, but one thing you should know about me- I love a challenge!

Here are a few more tidbits about me that you should know:

I am goofy. I love pranks, shenanigans, and jokes of all kinds. I will sacrifice my pride for a good laugh. I listen to quirky music and watch absurd programs. Even when I’m salty or sobbing, I’m still funny.

I am bold. Once I’m comfortable around a person, I am loud and sublimely ridiculous. I make grand gestures on a whim. Even when I know it won’t be well received, I take daring action. I love magenta lipstick and showing up at parties dressed as a princess.

I am positive. Ever the optimist, I’m the last person to give up hope. I believe in miracles and love at first sight, second chances and the goodness of mankind. I find something to like about just about every person I meet.

I am reliable. When you are in need, you can always depend on me to have bacon, coffee, and rum to share. I’m also great at keeping secrets and lending a judgement-free ear. Seriously, I’ve heard it all. As long as you aren’t putting people in imminent danger, my pearls remain unclutched.

Yes. I did that.

I reference pop culture. Before Kids, my sister shared her Us Weekly subscription with me. I don’t keep up like I used to, but I still drop references and quotes into most conversations. If you know Arrested Development, we’ll get along just fine.

I like to keep you guessing. You’ll never know if I am truly a Belieber or just messing with you. When you ask me for a far-out favor like leaving my kids in North Carolina with my parents for a week to go to Hawaii for your sister’s wedding, I will actually do that.

I genuinely like my family. We spend all our time together because we like to. I think my kids are brilliant, hilarious, and downright lovable- even on the days I want to list them on etsy. They expand my world with their interests and shrink it to include only them. And The Hubs? Well I knew he was the one before I ever set eyes on him in that Def Leppard t-shirt.

So, that’s me in a nutshell. I’m so excited to be part of this community! I’d love to know what you want to talk about, so drop me a comment or say hi below ?
