Quick and Easy Halloween Treat-Ghost and Mummy Cookies

0

Cooking with children comes with a few, how do you say, challenges. My older boys are now at an age where they can pretty accurately follow a recipe. Julian did mix up the salt and sugar that one time, but other than that they’re pretty ace. The littles, however, are more at the break and bake stage. This little mummy milano cookie recipe showed up on my Instagram feed, (shout out to @daniellepaschka for posting it) and I thought it would be perfect for the little two to create for their friends at school. We added a ghost option because we are all about the spook life. No matter the age of your tiny chef, this quick and easy Halloween treat is sure to impress.

Ingredients
  1. 2 packages of Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookies
  2. White Melting Candy
  3. Wilton Candy Eyes
  4. Dark Chocolate Melting Candy (or chocolate chips)
For Either Variation
  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. Place melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power or defrost. Stir and then continue to microwave in 30 second increments until the chocolate is fully melted.
  3. Dip Milano cookie 3/4 of the way into the melted chocolate.
  4. Place on baking sheet to cool.
For Mummy Cookies
  1. Take 2 (or more) Wilton Candy Eyes and place on cookie.
  2. Once finished, take a fork and drizzle bandages on mummy.
  3. Let cool completely and enjoy!
For Ghost Cookies
  1. Wait for white chocolate to cool completely.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate melting candies the same way. First 30 seconds at 50% or defrost and then continue microwaving in 30 second increments until fully melted.
  3. Using a toothpick, dip in the melted chocolate and then draw your ghost face! We did 2 dots for eyes and then an oval for the mouth.
  4. Let cool completely and enjoy!

To say that this treat was a hit would be an understatement. Milano cookies are one of their favorite cookies and they were so excited to spookify them. I’m already thinking of ways to modify this quick and easy Halloween treat into different Holidays. We are all about that sweet life.
