Music has always been one of the great loves of my life. As I write this, I’m sitting in the sun on my back porch with some NOLA jazz blaring from my phone. If I close my eyes and don’t think about it too much, it’s almost like I’m sitting on the beach! #wishfulthinking While […]

This time is super scary for all of us. COVID-19 has hit and the country is nearly in lockdown mode. Our mom brains are already filled to capacity and now we have all these added hurdles to think about. Uncertainty about our health and the health of our loved ones, plus financial worries and worries […]
Who doesn’t love a good homemade cookie? Answer: no one. That is why there’s a national holiday dedicated to it! October 1 is National Homemade Cookie Day and to celebrate, I whipped up these bad boys. They are best when the dough sits in the freezer for a couple of hours so this isn’t the fastest recipe, but it’s worth it.
Pro tip: they freeze great so double the recipe and freeze whatever you don’t bake for a quick batch of cookies later.
I’ve kept this cookie dough in the freezer for up to a month and they taste just as great as the first batch. It has been a lifesaver when my sweet tooth kicks in, or if we have people over last minute. Happy Baking!!!
Seriously, these are delicious and you will love them. To me, there’s something extra special about homemade desserts. It’s a nice way to show loved ones that you are thinking about them and it isn’t done much anymore. Now don’t get me wrong, there isn’t always time to bake cookies from scratch and a store bought cookie is super tasty as well! My kiddo will devour a Publix cookie in two seconds flat. I just love to bake and try out new recipes so I take the opportunity whenever I can. Plus, can we talk about the lingering smell long after the cookies are done??? It makes me feel good to have fresh baked goods in the house (my jeans aren’t as big of a fan but…oh well). Our friends and family know that if they come over, there’s a good chance I’ve just pulled something delish out of the oven. Somebody recently came over to meet with my husband and when he walked in he said, “hey have you baked anything today?” and it totally made my day.
There really is a holiday for everything these days. Some of them are silly, and some are my new favorite days of the year, I.E. NATIONAL LAZY MOM’S DAY! I definitely celebrate this one way more often than once a year, but #selfcare right? September is also Self-Care Awareness Month so you’re knocking out 2 […]
As the first part of our Nights Out On 30A series, we’re going to focus on the perfect spot for a DATE NIGHT. If it has been a while and you have zero clue what I’m talking about, it’s a night where you can get dressed up (or not! You do you mama.), take your […]
WooHoo! It’s that time of year again. Our mailboxes are bursting with back to school info and Target looks like a hurricane came through. Kids are picking out their first day of school outfits and complaining that we won’t buy them the 2,064 count box of Crayons (to be fair, I did some similar complaining […]
My son is five and has a muscle disorder, which has caused significant delays in his muscle development and overall strength. When looking for equipment like car seats, there is always the concern that even if a seat is age-appropriate for him, it may not give him enough support.
I’ve never been the most zen person. If there is a Wikipedia page that’s dedicated to Type A Nut Job, I’m pretty sure you’ll see my mug next to it. I have a particular way that I do things and I’m always planning for the next task. I wake up with a schedule running through […]
Sweat grosses me out and I love my comfort zone (it’s my favorite place to be). These days, however, I wake up excited to hit the gym and I’m really proud of myself for all the hard work I’ve done.
The 30A Songwriters Festival weekend is one of the most magical weekends of the year for us. This is the 8th year we have attended the festival and my husband also plays every year. If you’ve never been, it’s the most fabulous way to spend a weekend in January in one of the most beautiful […]
You know that saying “it takes a village”? Well these days, it seems like our Mom Tribes have gotten pretty sparse. With people living farther away from their families and everyone having insanely busy schedules, it can be difficult to find the support that we all need sometimes. Plus if you’re anything like me, you’re […]
The holidays are upon us and for most families, it’s the happiest time of the year. Kids can be cajoled into doing almost anything with just a reminder of Santa’s imminent arrival. Yes, it gets busy with lengthy gift lists and special events, but there’s an underlying level of giddiness in the air. This has […]
In this spooky season of trick-or-treating, let’s talk about the ultimate trick-or-treat: Potty Training (insert horror movie scream here). I think potty training is kind of like trick-or-treating for parents. There are special clothes, you have to ask extra politely, and there’s LOTS of candy involved. For some of you, this is a breeze (and […]
