Sorry Halloween, I am Already here for Christmas (Just Not The Gifts)

0

Am I crazy? I know it is not even Halloween yet but I am already super jazzed about Christmas, yes I said “jazzed” I say things like that sometimes, get over it. The cookies, the festivities, the lights, the hustle and bustle, I LOVE it all.

For me it is truly the most wonderful time of the year and I go all out for it. I am one of those people who decorate for Christmas on November 1st. I do love Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I want to have a lot of time to bask in all the Christmas decor glory. I need the full 60 days.

Holiday Stress Less

I always say I will not over buy for my kids, then I do. I get them great gifts weeks in advance, but Christmas urges closer and I just start buying everything. Junk from China they will love for 9 minutes? SOLD! I do not know why I do this, I am fully aware these poorly made toys will end up broken in the bottom of the toy box by March.

Does the spirit of Santa Claus himself take over my body?

That must be the case because I genuinely dislike all the junky toys, but there I am at Target (or on Amazon at midnight) filling my cart with anything that will bring my kids even the most temporary of joys.

But this year is going to be different. I am going to make a list, check it twice and add nothing.

Now that my kids are a little more able to understand and enjoy experiences, that will be my focus. A few nice toys, a joint gift for imaginative play, and a trip or an adventure.

This is my plan and I am sticking to it. So if you see me at Target on December 22nd drinking my 4th coffee and sweating while I hoist the entire contents of the toy aisle in my cart, stop me. Shake me. Tell me I am, in fact, not Santa and I need to go home.

Check this list out for great non-material gift options. And to read more by Ashley click here, Merry Christmas!
